Scour Tech completed works at the Port Kembla Gas Terminal Quay where Fabric Formwork Scour Mattresses were required to prevent scour on the northern and southern revetments. A clay layer existed between the king piles, sheet piles and rock along a section of both revetments.
Scour Tech provided 6 of 6m x 3m scour mattresses for the Southern revetment and on the northern revetment, 6 mattresses comprising of 3 x 11m mats, 3 x 7m mats. In addition, Scour Tech provided 12 cavity bags which were installed between the mats and sheet piles.
These scour mats were installed by the very professional dive team at Commercial Marine Group which included works in welding lugs to the king piles and sheet piles to ensure that the mattresses could be secured with lugs and rope. These are sacrificial requirements; once the mats are filled with concrete, they are secure.
All these mats are bespoke made in Australia.
